Important Drainage Channel Information
April 14, 2025
Frisco West WCID would like to provide some extra information to residents regarding the newly completed drainage channel near Riverside Drive.
This infrastructure helps to move excess water away from roads, buildings, and properties to help prevent damage and erosion.
Two different grass types were planted in this channel to help with its function and appearance: Bermuda and wetland grass.
The Bermuda grass runs along the outer edges of the channel and up to the sidewalks, it will be mowed on a regular schedule, depending on the season, to keep it at an appropriate height.
Along the bottom of the drainage channel, there is wetlands grass. This grass is intended to stay longer throughout the year to help prevent erosion and keep the channel in good shape for a long time. It will only be mowed twice a year to keep its length
The below image helps illustrate where the different grass types are:

Our new landscaping company, BrightView Landscaping, will be maintaining this channel, including mowing and other landscaping activities to ensure the area looks great for our community.
